Kingham Racing was established in 2004 initially as a motorcycle racing team to compete in the UK National Hill
Climb Championship. The Hill Climb Championship was a great way to gain a foothold in the world of motorcycle
racing and was also a superb way for a novice rider like I was at the time, to learn what competing on two wheels
in front of an audience is all about.
The team then evolved in 2005 from being a pure hill climbing team into a UK Road Racing team, competing at race
tracks around the UK such as Donington and Oulton Park. It was a great season, my riding progressed substantially,
from finishing pretty much last in my first race to becoming a regular top 20 finisher in less than half a year,
gaining my ACU 'Clubmans' Licence. The season did however come to an abrupt end in mid July when the engine on
my Honda CBR600 went bang at well over a ton as I was crossing the finishing line at Oulton Park.
The 2006 season never really began, endless problems with finding a new motor. When we finally did find a decent motor
we ran into endless problems trying to get the motor tuned. Time and money also became a massive factor, me learning to
fly, a new job and a very pregnant missus. Ultimately the 2006 season never happened. But we stayed positive and looked
forward to 2007.
Then we come to now 2007, I managed 1 race... and I finished... Last... oh dear. A combination of a badly blowing
exhaust and a bad seal on the alternator casing. In 2005 I managed a lap time of 1:45 seconds, in 2007 my best lap
was somewhere around the 2:10 second mark, a 25 second difference. Now, well into my flying and dealing with my son
Ben, time to get the problems fixed is scarce. We have decided to race a 400cc motorcycle of some type in race meetings
around the north west of England for 2008.
As you will see from looking around the site, there are many photo's of myself racing. Also, there are many photo's taken
during flights I have taken and my up to date pilot log book detailing my progress so far. I have also taken an interest
in 'virtual' flying using the very realistic X-Plane flight simulator by Laminar Research. It is great fun to use
and is excellent for honing intrument flying skills, please feel free to take a look in that section where you will find a
lot of screenshots, video's and aircraft to download that I have created. In addition, please browse through the links
section. There are different websites listed from a wide range of companies, varying from a Materials Consultancy to an
Online Gaming Clan.
